would you go with me

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Would you go with me
If we rolled down streets of fire?
Would you hold on to me tighter
As the summer sun got higher?
If we roll from town to town
And never shut it down?

Would you go with me
If we were lost in fields of clover?
Would we walk even closer
Until the trip was over?
And would it be okay
If I didn’t know the way?

If I gave you my hand would you take it
And make me the happiest man in the world?
If I told you my heart couldn’t beat one more minute without you, girl,
Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea?
Let me know if you’re really a dream
I love you so, so would you go with me?

Would you go with me
If we rode the clouds together?
Could you not look down forever,
If you were lighter than a feather?
Oh, and if I set you free,
Would you go with me?

If I gave you my hand would you take it
And make me the happiest man in the world?
If I told you my heart couldn’t beat one more minute without you, girl,
Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea?
Help me tie up the ends of a dream
I gotta know, would you go with me?
I love you so, so would you go with me?

divorce my heart

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

I can take this wedding ring off of my finger
Put it in a box inside my dresser drawer
I can put some sheets on our old sofa sleeper
And not have to sleep in our bed anymore
And I can force my hand to sign these final papers
With both of our attorneys in this room
But when I stand and walk away from this table
Tell me how do I divorce my heart from you?
Baby how do I divorce my heart from you?

I won’t sit here and act like I haven’t hurt you
Right now I’m as sorry as I can be
And don’t think this love that I’m still feeling for you
Will fade away when some judge sets you free
Cause I can force my hand to sign these final papers
With both of our attorneys in this room
But when I stand and walk away from this table
Tell me how do I divorce my heart from you?
Baby how do I divorce my heart from you?

Oooh, Is that a tear I see
Oooh, rolling down your cheek?
Maybe there’s still a place inside your broken heart for me

I can force my hand to sign these final papers
With both of our attorneys in this room
But when I stand and walk away from this table
Tell me how do I divorce my heart from you?
Baby how do I divorce my heart from you?
I don’t believe I can divorce my heart from you

much too young (to feel this damn old)

This ol’ highway’s getting longer
Seems there ain’t no end in sight
To sleep would be best,
But I just can’t afford to rest
I’ve got to ride in Denver tomorrow night

I called the house but no one answered
For the last two weeks no one’s been home
I guess she’s through with me,
To tell the truth I just can’t see
What’s kept the woman holding on this long

And the white line’s getting longer
And the saddle’s getting cold
I’m much too young to feel this damn old
All my cards are on the table with no ace left in the hole
I’m much too young to feel this damn old

The competition’s getting younger
Tougher broncs, you know I can’t recall
The worn out tape of Chris LeDoux,
Lonely women and bad booze
Seem to be the only friends I’ve left at all

And the white line’s getting longer
And the saddle’s getting cold
I’m much too young to feel this damn old
All my cards are on the table with no ace left in the hole
I’m much too young to feel this damn old

Lord, I’m much too young to feel this damn old
