the great divide

rear view mirror

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Well they crucified Jesus, they crucified King,
Crucified John F. Kennedy
Peace and change have always met with violent opposition
And minds filled up with mediocrity
Well the road must be paved, and the road must be straight
If the world is to continue to travel
Thank God for those who gave us their lives
So we could spread a lil gravel

Woah-woah here it comes
Yeah-yeah, we’re all circling towards the sun
Yeah-yeah, hear the trumpet blast
Why don’t you look in the rear view mirror my friend
Someone’s coming up fast

Well they say a rich man into the kingdom of Heaven
Is like a camel through the eye of a needle.
And I see some preacher jump around on TV
Making more money than the Beatles.
And there are these people out there, man
That ain’t got a dime
But they give this man everything that they make.
I ain’t saying there’s anything wrong with giving,
Just be careful what you take.

Woah-woah here it comes
Yeah-yeah, we’re all circling towards the sun
Yeah-yeah, hear the trumpet blast
Why don’t you look in the rear view mirror my friend
Someone’s coming up fast

Woah-woah here it comes
Yeah-yeah, we’re all circling towards the sun
Yeah-yeah, hear the trumpet blast
Why don’t you look in the rear view mirror my friend
Someone’s coming up fast

Why don’t you look in your rear view mirror my friend
Someone’s coming up fast

pour me a vacation

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Barmaid, play me some Buffet
I’m in the mood to get away
So pour me a vacation
I need to leave here right away
I gotta get down by the ocean
If it’s only in my mind
Take me out to paradise
If only for tonight,
I can leave it all behind

It’s Friday night here in the big town
This ol’ routine it starts to bore
Same ol’ lines and songs and stories
That I heard the week before

I wanna hear about the islands
About pirates and rum
Don’t wanna think about tomorrow
Not until tomorrow comes

So, barmaid, play me some Buffet
I’m in the mood to get away
So pour me a vacation
I need to leave here right away
I gotta get down by the ocean
If it’s only in my mind
Take me out to paradise
If only for tonight,
I can leave it all behind

It’s up to you, barmaid, to save me
Put me on my coastal trail
Well I been landlocked here for so long
That it’s hightime that I set sail

You know I can’t afford the air fare
So put umbrellas in my drink
I’ll waste away in Margaritaville
And pray this boat don’t sink

So, barmaid, play me some Buffet
I’m in the mood to get away
So pour me a vacation
I need to leave here right away
I gotta get down by the ocean
If it’s only in my mind
Take me out to paradise
If only for tonight,
I can leave it all behind
Take me out to paradise
If only for tonight,
I can leave it all behind

something wicked

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

something wicked this way comes
i saw the fire in the sky
people running, seven years were burning
the judges said their last goodbye

i saw the sinners they were on their knees again
trying to buy their way back home
powers feuding over desolated lands
man cant live on hate alone

something wicked this way comes
live and die by the blade
the ace of spades has come to win the day
gambling their wretched lives away

i saw the outlaws and the desperados
they were riding against the wind
dust was blowing over desolated lands
they’ve seen tomorrow again

something wicked this way comes
aw sailing across the sea
they were tossed around and some were nearly drowned
why they came, no one agreed

across to the rocky shores came the desperados
they were sailing against the wind
mist was blowing over desolated scenes
they’ve seen tomorrow again

something wicked yeah
something wicked
oh yeah
