beauty in walking away

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

Light shines off in the distance
A pale flickering glow
How many times do I have to dream I could be there
The time is here and she won’t be waiting
For me to find the easy way out
I’ve lost count of the days that were wasted

There’s an answer in the sound of a train
There is wisdom past the bridge on the bay
There’s a lifetime through the fog and the rain
There’s a beauty in walking away

I float on the streets that are empty
Take the path that the wind only knows
Tonight is the last time that I’ll ever be here
Oh be here

There’s an answer in the sound of a train
There is wisdom past the bridge on the bay
There’s a lifetime through the fog and the rain
There’s a beauty in walking away

It’s never quite simple, it’s never that safe
It never seems perfect until it’s too late
It’s never the right time to find a new way, yeah

There’s an answer in the sound of a train
There is wisdom past the bridge on the bay
There’s a lifetime through the fog and the rain
There’s a beauty

There’s an answer in the sound of a train
There is wisdom past the bridge on the bay
There’s a lifetime through the fog and the rain
There’s a beauty in walking away

voice on the radio

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Last night, I fell in love with a stranger
Behind the Glass House, he came
Walking out the backdoor
To a crowd of screaming girls calling his name
I never saw it coming
The way your voice can make me feel
And I fear that I am falling
I should be old enough to know
Not to fall in love with the voice on the radio

So here I stand
Fighting what I feel for you
Torn between what reason says
And how I really feel.
So here I stand
Wondering what to say to you
Hoping that you feel the same,
The same as I do

He’s in a rock band
With a voice like an angel
And eyes of a raven sky
Suddenly I find myself
At twelve years old again dreaming of you
But who am I kidding
To even think that you might see me?
It’s in the stars that girls like me
And boys like you were never meant to be

So here I stand
Fighting what I feel for you
Torn between what reason says
And how I really feel.
So here I stand
Wondering what to say to you
Hoping that you feel the same,
The same as I do

Would you be scared if I told you I like you?
And would you run if I told you I love you?

So here I stand
Fighting what I feel for you
Torn between what reason says
And how I really feel.
And here I stand
Wondering what to say to you
Hoping that you feel the same,
The same as I do
As I do
As I do

I never saw it coming
The way your voice can make me feel
And I fear that I am falling
I should be old enough to know
Not to fall in love with the voice on the radio

kiss quick

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

This year all but disappeared,
Bought into fairy tales,
But Sleeping Beauty just
Kept score and tried to sleep more.
She said “I’m not quite myself tonight,
But the way you touch me, oh, makes me tongue tied,
That could be the wine, too.”

“Kiss quick, I’ve got a line out the door
Who all think they can save me.
One by one, they lay the world at my feet,
One by one, they drive me crazy.”

She said “I know Love,
And it’s all push and shove,
So stop talking
And put your back into it.”
Loaded, oh my hands shook to hold it
I turned her body on, I turned her body on myself.

Kiss quick, I’ve got a line out the door
Who all think they can save me.
One by one, they lay the world at my feet,
One by one, they drive me crazy.

Shut your mouth,
Pull me out, before this all goes grey.
One by one, they lay the world at my feet.
One by one, they go away.

Oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh

Come on, come on,
Kiss quick, got a line out the door
Who all think they can save me.
Oh, one by one, they lay the world at my feet.
One by one, they drive me crazy.

Shut your mouth,
Pull me out before this all goes grey.
One by one, they lay the world at my feet.
One by one, they go away.
They go away.
They go away.

Sold my blood for money, baby, baby.
And I love how it feels.

This year, all but disappears.
