room @ the end of the world

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

I was weaving with the drunks,
Singing Sinatra loud.
I let go of love
Since it finally had me figured out

I was buried like a treasure
But no one ever came to mark the spot
So I got good at pleasure
And started tyin’ tighter knots

Sad can’t catch me
Or call me baby now
When it’s all I use to believe

If the sun don’t light
And the night won’t turn
We’ll get a room at the end of the world
And we’ll rewrite
All the wrongs we’ve learned
Safe in our room at the end of the world

These streets are haunted
With ghosts who wait on luck to come
And they sleep with hornets
And they wonder why they wake up stung

Sad can’t catch me
Or call me baby now
Oh now, well it’s all I use to believe

If the sun don’t light
And the night won’t turn
We’ll get a room at the end of the world
And we’ll rewrite
All the wrongs we’ve learned
Safe in our room at the end of the world

One heart is never enough, alone
One heart is never enough alone
Come on, come on,
Come on and you dance with me, love
Just come on and dance with me love
‘Cause I need it, yeah I need it now
I can see it, I can see it, believe it

If the sun don’t light
And the night won’t turn
We’ll get a room at the end of the world
And we’ll rewrite
All the wrongs we’ve learned
Safe in our room
We’ll be safe in our room at the end of the world

Yes I can see it

You and me at the end of the world

stand back up

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Go ahead and take your best shot,
Let ‘er rip, give it all you’ve got
I’m laid out on the floor
But I’ve been here before.
I may stumble, yeah, I might fall,
I’m only human, but aren’t we all?
I might lose my way
But hear me when I say:

I will stand back up
You’ll know just the moment when I’ve have enough
Sometimes I’m afraid and I don’t feel that tough
But I’ll stand back up

And I’ve been beaten up and bruised, yeah
And I’ve been kicked right off my shoes.
Been down on my knees
More times than you’d believe
And when the darkness tries to get me,
There is a light that just won’t let me.
It might take my pride,
And tears may fill my eyes
But I’ll stand back up

I’ve weathered all these storms
But I just turn them into wind, so I can fly
If what don’t kill you makes you stronger,
When I take my last breath that’s when I’ll just give up

So, go ahead and take your best shot,
Let ‘er rip, give it all you’ve got
You might win this round
But you can’t keep me down

‘Cause I’ll stand back up
And you’ll know just the moment when I’ve had enough
Sometimes I’m afraid and I don’t feel that tough
But I’ll stand back up

You’ll know just the moment when I’ve had enough
Sometimes I’m afraid and I don’t feel that tough
But I’ll stand back up

imperfection

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

My hair’s a wreck
Mascara runs
My feet get dirty
And my skin burns in the sun
My lips they bleed,
But I still sing my songs
Takes me a minute
To admit it when I’m wrong.

Pretty is as pretty does,
But pretty’s not my thing.

This is what you get
This is who I am
Take me now or leave me,
Any way you can.
Sometimes I trip and fall
But I know where I stand.
And if you’re thinking about changing my direction,
Don’t mess with imperfection.

My back is weak,
But my will is true.
Got good intentions
But I never follow through.
I say too much,
And don’t know when to leave.
In case you’re looking,
That’s my heart there on my sleeve.

Ego trips and stupid slip-ups,
I’m a mess but –

This is what you get,
This is who I am
Take me now or leave me,
Any way you can.
Sometimes I trip and fall
But I know where I stand.
And if you’re thinking about changing my direction,
Don’t mess with imperfection.

Scratched and bruised,
A little used,
But baby I work fine.
You might call me
Damaged goods,
But I’m one of a kind.

My hair’s a wreck,
No, I’m not perfect
But I’m not the only one.

This is what you get
This is who I am
Take me now or leave me
Any way you can.
Sometimes I trip and fall
But I know where I stand.
And if you’re thinking about changing my direction,
Don’t mess with imperfection.

This is who I am
If you’re thinking about changing my direction,
Don’t mess with imperfection.
